Echo

This morning, I was sitting in Austin's room, Austin was sitting on the floor and Jackson was sitting at the little table next to us. Austin was being silly and fooling around when he was supposed to be changing out of his pajamas.

Me: Austin, what should you be doing right now?
Austin:  Yeah, blah, blah, blah
Me: Don't say blah, blah, blah
Jackson: Blah, blah, blah
Austin: That was an echo!

Gold Fish afternoon

Due to the number of kids in the Angel Fish and Gold Fish rooms this afternoon, Jackson was hanging out in the Gold Fish room (1 year old class).

He occasionally spends some time in this room and plays outside in the Gold Fish playground but this is the first time I've been there when he is in the big kids' room.

When I picked him up, all the teachers told me that he loves the Gold Fish room and is definitely ready to move up.

Treasure box

Jackson loves boxes and bags. I knew he'd love this box. So I left it out for him to find. He loves it alright. Over the course of a couple of days, he filled this treasure box with lots of little toys he gathered from various places around the house. :)

Date night

Here we are again.. Dining at the food trucks at the Wiseburn Food Fest (sans kiddos this time though).

We had Nellie take the kids home from school, went early (way less crowded), ate well, then went to see "Dark Shadows" for our night out.

15 month checkup

I took Jackson to the pediatrician for his 15 month checkup. His measurements:

Weight: 19lbs, 3oz (5-10%)
Height: 28 3/4 inches (0-2%)
Head: 18 1/4 inches (30%)

He fussed a little when I sat him on the scale, but when back in the room, I gave him a set of board books in a cardboard sleeve and it occupied him the whole time. He was very cooperative and sat still for the nurse to take measurements and for the doc to check his breathing, ears, eyes, mouth, etc.

Dr. Andrade asked various questions about his development - talking, walking, running, climbing, trying to eat with spoon, etc. He's doing all the things she inquired about. She seemed very happy with how he's doing. For his 18 month checkup she suggested jotting down the words he says so we can let her know how many words he's saying, work on puzzles and eating with a fork & spoon.

At 15 months, these are the words that Jackson says:
mama
dada/dadee
no = no
ball = baaah
milk = mih/muh
up = pu'
bike = baiii
diaper = bapuu
and he just started saying uh-oh and woah
in addition to various babbling

He uses sign language quite a bit now and is still learning new signs.

He got two pokes before we left, one on each thigh (MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) and Hib B vaccines). I opted for two today and two more in six weeks, instead of all four at once. I didn't want his little body to have to respond to so many vaccines all at once and the two happened so fast he barely even had time to react. If there were two more he surely would have been more upset. He was so good he got a banana sticker (That he clutched all the way back to the car and played with all the way to day care. But he stashed it somewhere and it was missing when it was time to get out of the car). :)

Open house

We went to the Juan Cabrillo Elementary Open House tonight to take a little tour of the classrooms and for Austin to see where he'll be going to school in the fall.

Snoozin' in his new seat

This seat isn't quite as comfy for resting his head as the infant carrier. Luckily, he didn't wake up when I shoved a blanket under his head.

Moving on up!

Austin's new carseats arrived yesterday!

He'll be moving on up into a booster seat and Jackson will finally be moving on up into Austin's old convertible carseats. Which means, no more infant carseat and no more infant carseat stroller. No more transferring Jackson into the house if he falls asleep on the way home (which he only does about once a week now, but it's always nice at times like yesterday when he fell asleep in the car, I transferred him into the house and slept in his carseat for two hours). The last couple of days that I was still taking his carseat into his classroom when picking him up (that was a couple of weeks ago now) he crawled into the seat all by himself. But, I was getting tired of carrying him in the carrier so I started just carrying him out then buckling him in at the car. Plus, it's starting to get a little snug in the infant carseat so this is just in time.

Quote of the Day

I overheard Austin say this to Willis:

"Don't do that with your feet. That's not polite!"

I don't know what he was doing with his feet, but sounded funny..

He fought it

He fought the nap. He fought very hard. It took 15-20 minutes, but the nap won.

Ahh, how peaceful he now looks

Quote of the day

Last night during dinner, Austin looked at my bracelet (the bead one he made me for Mother's Day) and said, "I put a lot of hearts on your bracelet because I love you soo much!" :)

Basketball morning

Mother's day morning spent watching Willis' basketball game. They pulled out a Mother's Day OT win!

Quote of the day

Last week, I was walking outside with Jackson after picking him up from day care. We were following his teacher, Ms. Michelle. She turned around and he must have been signing "please" because she said, "Jackson, you're so cute! You sign 'please' all day long." :)

Lately, it seems he has picked up on using the "please" sign and has dropped all his other signs (eat, milk, more, etc). I'm thinking it's because we always ask him to sign "please" and it produces results. So, over the weekend, I worked on getting him to use his other signs again. As of this morning he was starting to use "more" and "milk" again.
